Description
The Club was formed in early 2007 by the amalgamation of two of the most successful Freshwater Angling Clubs in West Sussex, the former Petworth Angling Club and the former Bognor Regis & District Freshwater Angling Club. Both clubs had a long history of providing quality angling to their members stretching back to the early part of the last century.
The club says:
Both had also been dedicated to the traditional aspects and values of coarse angling, and despite the rise of commercial fisheries which we recognise as one of the ways in which newcomers may become attracted to the sport, we are increasingly finding that, for many, our more traditional types of coarse fishing represents a more varied and rewarding challenge. This means that ‘instant’ results are less likely and good catches on some of our waters require a certain amount of patience and skill.
That’s not to say you won’t ‘bag up’ on some of our waters, with some expertise and a degree of luck, a trip to the River Arun could see you net a ton of bream and a ton of quality mixed fish is not unheard of from Petworth Park Lake these days.
Typically our members regard enjoyment of the beautiful countryside of West Sussex as an essential ingredient of their fishing, whether it be the bird or animal life, the trees and wildflowers, the ever-changing skies or simply the pleasure of being close to nature.
