Description

This free fishing stretch of the River Thames in Laleham offers some excellent river coarse fishing theThames is around 50 metres wide with depths between 5-8 metres.

The water flow is usually clear and steady. Be warned that the upstream end can get very busy in the summer with picknickers and campers.

Best areas are where Ferry Lane forks off from Thames Side and Laleham Green. Best tactics are a heavy waggler float or maggot feeder with maggots on the hook over a bed of hemp. With the waggler approach, use three number 8 shot down the line to a size 18 hook. When using the maggot feeder cast tight to the far bank for chub [to 5lb], roach and perch. Downstream there are some good waggler pegs - fish 4-5 rod lengths out with maggot for roach, perch and dace.

The motorway stretch has become popular with carp fishermen with some big carp falling to a variety of pop-ups and hair rigs. There is a good chance of a decent river double especially overnight. The fly-over pegs are particularly worth trying.
