WHERE TO FISH
Surrey
Surrey
It holds roach to 1lb 12oz, loads of dace to 12oz as well as carp to 35lb, pike to 27lb, some barbel to 12lb, chub and bream to to 7lb and perch to 3lb. The stretch of the Thames at Runnymede runs from opposite Magna Carta Island for three quarters of a mile to the council pay and display car park. It is controlled by the National Trust.
Best tactics include pole or stick float using caster of hemp for roach [hemp and tares later in the summer], float fished maggots for dace, ledgered boilies or pellets under the far bank for carp, chub and barbel, groundbait feeder with worm or caster from bream. Pike and perch in the winter. Use a dark coloured groundbait for dace and roach as light coloured groundbait can attract pike. The best swims for roach and dace are immediately below the car park.
