Description

Stubpond Fishery consists of five coarse fishing lakes offering all year round coarse and carp fishing and is situated Newchapel, Nr East Grinstead, Surrey

Chart Lake: Built in 1995 as a nursery pond, the lake is stocked biannually with small Carp, Tench, Roach & Rudd. This serves as a holding lake for the complex. There are twenty pegs running around a central island about 15 metres from the edge and is to 4 to 5 feet deep. This is a very easy lake in which to catch fish, and is therefore suitable for begginers.

Forge Lake:
Originally built in 1986 and stocked with a variety of Carp, Tench, Bream & Crucians, Forge lake was made smaller and deeper in 1996 with depths to 16 feet, and restockedwith more Tench plus the mainstay of Perch, Chub, Rudd and Skimmers. Also added were a number of larger Carp 30+ lbs, with Ghost to 20+ lbs. There are a number of Sturgeon and Catfish which will test any anglers ability as they have the reputation of being one of the hardest freshwater fighters. This lake has 27 pegs, and is ideal for anglers to catch big fish, day or night.

Mill Lake: Recently constructed, this lake holds 54 pegs and like Plantation lake, has a central island running down the middle of it's length at approximately 11 to 13 metres. With a depth of 5 to 7 feet, it will link with Plantation lake on the larger league bookings. There has been further stocking in 1998 of Crucians, Bream, Tench, Rudd, Perch and Orfe, making this a truly mixed fishing lake. This lake is the most pictoresque with liles in every peg and grass banks, ideal for family picnics.

Plantation Lake: This is Stubpond's main match venue, built in 1994 with 70 purpose made pegs, surrounding a central island running the full length of this rectangular lake between 15 and 24 metres out. Match anglers use a varied catch method with pole, bomb, feeder and waggler all providing excellent results. The depth varies between 5 and 9.5 feet and there are rush beds off the island and lily pads in the margins.
The lake host regular opens and league matchs throughout the year, with keep nets and landing nets supplied by the management. There are Carp to 14 lbs, Chub to nearly 5 lbs and Pech topping the 4lb mark. Recent additional stocking including Skimmers, Gudgeon, Perch as well as Crucians and Barbel of up to 2lb. This makes Stubpond ideal for winter Silver Fish Matches.

Stubpond Lake: Built in 1986, this lake is almost two acres in size with 34 comfortable pegs. It holds Carp upto 25lbs, and Ghostie's to nearly 19lbs. There are Bream upto 5lbs with the usual backup of Tench, Rudd, Roach, Perch and Chub. This lake is ideal for club bookings as well as being popular with pleasure anglers due to the easy catch rate.
