Best Baits
Try fishing maggot on light rigs, punch bread or hemp for roach or hemp and caster for the bigger fish. For the chub, bream and tench try caster or worm on the hook feeding chopped worm and caster. Perch fall to red maggot, caster or small redworm. Try the wider pegs or opposite inlets. A small feeder can work well in these areas. Try a whole lobworm for the bigger fish.
Getting There / Directions
From junction 12 of the M4, pick up the A4 for Newbury. After four
miles you reah a roundabout with the A340 for Aldermaston. Continue
along the A4 passing Woolhampton and after a further 2 miles turn left
towards Brimpton. Cross the canal and park on the left.
Description
This stretch of the Kennet and Avon Canal which runs along the right bank from Cramwell Bridge to Heales Lock [about 1 mile] is controlled by Reading and District Angling Association
This section of The Kennet and Avon Canal offers some excellent coarse fishing holding a decent head of roach [to 1lb] and perch [to 2lb]. Other coarse fish present are tench and chub [to 4lb], bream [to 3lb 8oz], and pike [to 10lb].
